Set on 3 ½ acres of land, St. Winifred’s School has been home to many generations of families. The School aims to ensure the property is well-maintained, secure and safe. Mr. Patrick Bethell (presently Chairman of the Committee of Management) takes a personal interest in the school’s physical plant and works with the Plant Supervisor Mr. Nurse to ensure that it is well maintained; upgrades are done each summer.
The school is spread out into three departments, each in its own area of the property.
Each class is outfitted with a SMART TV and has Wi-Fi access.
Outdoor areas include the large field, 2 tennis courts, 2 playgrounds, the track and the closed carpark area, the garden, picnic tables for Lunch break, the Canteen and the Guard Hut.
The Prep Department houses 9 classrooms, an Art room, a Learning Support room and a space for Speech & Language support. The two playgrounds are assigned to this department. The Prep Breezeway is a place for eating and waiting for collection after school.
The Three Year Old Unit has its own bathrooms and play area.
The Junior & Senior Departments house 19 classrooms, two Computer Labs*, an Art room, a Food & Nutrition kitchen, 2 labs for Biology & Chemistry and Physics, a Learning Support room and a Technical Drawing room. There is a Junior and Senior Breezeway where students are dropped off each day and where they are collected from at the end of the school day.
The Computer Labs* are used for the following subjects:
Electronic Document Preparation Management (EDPM), Information Technology, Technical Drawing (using AUTOCAD from Form 3) and Computer Studies. In September of 2021 we are exploring the introduction of Coding in one of the Junior year groups.
In the main building you will find the Principal’s Office, the Admissions Office, the Secretary-Treasurer’s Office, the school Library, the Sick Room, the AV room and the Staff Room.
Our school Hall is where Music classes take place and where Assemblies and student performances are held.
Just off the field there is a Pavilion with seating as well as a Drama/Dance studio.
